Hiring help does not automatically save time. An assistant needs clear work, appropriate access, reliable instructions, and someone who can review results. Without that operating system, delegation can simply move confusion from the owner’s desk to someone else’s inbox.
Time etc provides dedicated U.S.-based virtual assistants through monthly hour packages. The service matches a client with an assistant, supports communication through common channels, tracks time, allows additional assistants, and rolls unused hours into the next month under its current terms.
Time etc is a strong candidate for an owner or small team with recurring administrative work, a documented workflow, and enough monthly volume to use a dedicated assistant consistently. It is a weaker fit for isolated one-off tasks, highly regulated work requiring specialized controls, or a business that has not yet decided what should be delegated.
What the service includes
Time etc currently lists monthly packages of 10, 20, 40, and 60 hours. The official pricing page shows rates decreasing from $39 per hour on the 10-hour plan to $36 per hour on the 60-hour plan, with monthly totals ranging from $390 to $2,160 at the time of review.
The company says clients receive a dedicated U.S.-based assistant who is matched to their needs. Current materials also list time tracking, a dashboard and mobile app, additional assistants at no extra platform charge, team sharing, a client manager, holiday and sickness cover, and rollover of unused hours.
Time etc is designed for ongoing assistance rather than a marketplace of unrelated one-time gigs. That continuity can be useful when tasks depend on business context, but it also makes process quality and relationship fit important.
Where Time etc works well
Recurring administrative work. Calendar management, inbox organization, research, data entry, follow-up, document preparation, and routine coordination can be good candidates when the process is clear.
Continuity with one assistant. A dedicated relationship can reduce repeated onboarding and help the assistant learn preferences, customers, and recurring workflows.
U.S. working-hour alignment. Time etc states that its U.S. assistants work during U.S. business hours, which may simplify communication for domestic teams.
Flexible capacity. Monthly packages can be easier to scale than immediately hiring a full-time employee. Unused-hour rollover can reduce waste, although rollover and cancellation terms should be confirmed before purchase.
Matching and replacement. The service conducts a consultation, proposes an assistant, and lets the client speak with that person before proceeding. It also says clients can change assistants if the match is not right.
Limitations and hidden work
Delegation requires preparation. Someone must define the expected result, write instructions, provide examples, set deadlines, and decide when the assistant should ask for help.
Not every task is safe to outsource. Avoid granting broad access to banking, payroll, identity documents, production infrastructure, customer health information, or legal records without appropriate controls and a verified business need.
The hourly rate is only part of the cost. Include owner time spent documenting work, reviewing output, managing credentials, and correcting mistakes. A cheaper assistant is not cheaper if the work must be redone.
It is not intended for one-off tasks. Time etc’s own FAQ says the service is better suited to ongoing assistance. A project marketplace or specialist contractor may fit an isolated deliverable better.
Expertise must match the task. Administrative experience does not automatically qualify someone to provide bookkeeping, legal, medical, cybersecurity, tax, or regulated professional services.
A safe 30-day pilot
- List recurring work completed at least twice per month.
- Select two or three tasks with clear outcomes and low security risk.
- Write a short SOP with inputs, steps, examples, deadline, and escalation rules.
- Create separate user accounts instead of sharing the owner’s credentials.
- Use least-privilege permissions and multifactor authentication wherever possible.
- Track time saved, errors, rework, turnaround, and communication overhead.
- Review access and completed work weekly during the pilot.
- Expand only after the first workflows are consistent and measurable.
A useful first task should be repetitive enough to document and important enough to measure, but not so sensitive that one mistake creates serious harm. Scheduling, contact cleanup, meeting preparation, and routine research are often easier pilots than financial approvals or customer-account administration.
Verdict
Time etc can be a practical middle ground between doing everything yourself and hiring a full-time employee. The dedicated-assistant model, U.S. working-hour alignment, matching process, time tracking, and rollover hours are well suited to recurring support.
The service is most valuable when the business already has work that can be explained, measured, and delegated safely. Before subscribing, calculate the real monthly workload, confirm current rollover and cancellation terms, and prepare at least two documented tasks for the first week.
